A person who ingests food that was prepared for someone else, to confirm it is safe to eat is known as A food taster. The food taster is of two types: The one who professionally educated and trained men and women who are often employed as food scientists, food technicians, or product developers. The other type comprises consumers who work part-time or on an as-needed basis to taste-test products for companies. The former individuals consider food as one part of their job, while the latter is only involved in taste-testing. Professional food taster will be able to eat such delicious food.

The roles and responsibilities of food flavorist are:

• To use knowledge of how ingredients  interact and function
• To study the properties of additives, proteins, fats, starches, carbohydrates and flavor components
• To use artificial and natural ingredients to replace the flavor that was removed by reducing fat or sugar
• To produce food product samples for scrutiny and testing
• To determine food safety by observing whether or not the food taster subsequently becomes ill.

To become a food taster, the aspirants must need to develop certain skills like Must have excellent analytical skills, needs to have good knowledge about food processing, knowledge of the application of various sciences on food, excellent communication skill, a keen sense of taste and smell, keenness to experience new smells, creative, intuitive, motivated, dedicated and able to work in a team,  Patience and willingness,  must have computer skills to handle databases, spreadsheets, software’s, etc., must have a general understanding of food composition. Other skills include no colorblindness, must have professional education, sensory acuity, no smoking, no food Allergies
